BUSHFIRE ASSESSMENT (BAL)
Western Australia's State Planning Policy 3.7 'Planning in Bushfire Prone Areas' requires an assessment about the risk of bushfire to any new house built in an area which has been designated as bushfire prone by the Fire and Emergency Services.
This assessment is called a Bushfire Attack Level, or BAL.
If you live in a bushfire prone area a BAL Assessment will form part of your documentation to obtain a building permit from your local council.
The Western Australian Planning Commission strongly recommends that BAL assessments are prepared by accredited Level 1 BAL Assessors.
Queensberry Consulting is an accredited Level 1 BAL Assessor. We have completed many BAL's for customers in the South West region of Western Australia. We use GIS techniques to map out the assessments, taking into account fuel load of surrounding areas as well as slope of the land.
We also provide advice about the type of buildings that can be built in areas that have been assessed.
